Agoraphobia

Age-related cataracts

Age-related cataractsCataracts are when the lens, a small transparent disc inside your eye, develops cloudy patches. Over time these patches usually become bigger causing blurry, misty vision and eventually blindness. When we're young, our lenses are usually like clear glass, allowing us to see through them.

The main symptom is blurry vision. Having cataracts can be like looking through a cloudy window.
When a cataract interferes with someone's usual activities, the cloudy lens can be replaced with a clear, artificial lens. This is generally a safe, outpatient procedure.
Adenoidectomy
Adenoidectomy is the surgical removal of the adenoid for reasons which include impaired breathing through the nose, chronic infections, or recurrent earaches. The effectiveness of removing the adenoids in children to improve recurrent nasal symptoms and/or nasal obstruction has not been well studied.
Acute myeloid leukaemia
A type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow with excess immature white blood cells.
AML progresses rapidly, with myeloid cells interfering with the production of normal white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.
Symptoms include fatigue, recurrent infections and bruising easily.
Treatments include chemotherapy, other drug therapy and stem-cell transplants.
Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia
A type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects white blood cells.
Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia is the most common childhood cancer. It occurs when a bone marrow cell develops errors in its DNA.
Symptoms may include enlarged lymph nodes, bruising, fever, bone pain, bleeding from the gums and frequent infections.
Treatments may include chemotherapy or targeted drugs that specifically kill cancer cells.
