Stellar-Mama is a new generation prenatal supplement which can be taken prior to conception, during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding. Each pack contains a 30-day supply of multivitamins, calcium and Meg-3 Omega.

DOSAGE

Each pack contains a 30-day supply of the 3 Components:

  • 30 x Multivitamin Capsules
  • 30 x Calcium Tablets
  • 30 x Omega-3 Capsules

Take one Multivitamin Capsule in the morning with breakfast, and take one Calcium Tablet and one Omega-3 Capsule at night with dinner.

BENEFITS

Stellar-Mama contains –

  • Active Extrafolate-S, a 3rd generation folate that does not need to be broken down by the body through a complex enzymatic metabolic process like conventional synthetic folic acid does, which means that it is ready to be used by the body immediately.
  • Myo-inositol which when combined with folate significantly reduces the incidence of neural tube defects even more than using folate alone.
  • 60% more Amino Acid Chelated Iron than some of its competitive brands and is in a form that is softer on the stomach and has a lower side effect profile and does not give you constipation, black stools or nausea.
  • Meg-3 Omega Fish Oil which is rich in DHA (400mg) and has no fishy odour or fishy taste which assists in combating the usual reflux associated with other fish oils.

Stellar-Mama is suitable for use by pescatarians or vegetarians who eat fish.

INTERESTING FACTS

  • Folate vs Folic Acid? Folate is the naturally-occurring form of vitamin B9 (a metabolically active form) whereas folic acid is a synthetic form of vitamin B9 (an inactive synthetic form). The body does not convert folic acid into active vitamin B9 very well, so un-metabolized folic acid may build up in the bloodstream which can have negative health effects. Thus, Folate and Folic Acid are technically not the same thing.
  • Folate is essential during pregnancy as it helps prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida and cleft palate. The highest risk for neural tube defects occurs between the 21st and 28th day after conception when the embryonic neural tube closes. This is in the first month of pregnancy, often before a woman even knows that she is pregnant. Thus, one should start supplementing with folate at least 2 to 3 months prior to falling pregnant as per the World Health Organisation’s Guidelines.
