Slow Mag Caps 10s is specially formulated to relieve muscle cramps, stress, fatigue and migraines. These capsules provide a sustained release of magnesium into the body that improves overall wellbeing.

Detailed Description:
More than double the absorption.

Each Slow-Mag® caps capsule contains 450 mg magnesium chelazome (magnesium amino acid chelate).

Important terms you should know:

Chelated minerals:Have been found to enhance the body's absorption of minerals. When minerals become surrounded by and bonded to amino acids in a stable form this is referred to as chelation. Chelation is a natural means for the body to transport minerals across the intestinal wall as part of digestion.

Magnesium chelazome:Is a patented magnesium amino acid chelate that is absorbed by the body at a higher rate and is therefore more effective than other forms of elemental magnesium supplements.

Bioavailability:Is the amount of a nutrient ingested that is absorbed and thus available to the body for metabolic use. Slow-Mag® caps have a high bioavailability.

Recommended daily allowance (RDA):Is the daily amount of vitamin or mineral needed by healthy individuals to prevent nutrient deficiency. Why is magnesium so important?Magnesium is a critical element in maintaining health and preventing diseases. It activates more enzymatic reactions (normal metabolic functioning of the body) in the body than any other mineral and is involved in over 300 different biochemical reactions. Magnesium therefore plays an important role in our well-being and emotional state.Your diet probably doesn't contain enough magnesium:The foods we consume, especially processed foods, do not contain enough magnesium for our bodies. The amount of vitamins and minerals needed to provide for adequate nutrition in most healthy persons may vary depending on a person's age, sex and physical condition. The recommended daily allowance (RDA) of elemental magnesium is 270 mg to 450 mg daily (U.S). We should get our magnesium through the diet, but there are a number of reasons why this is not so:Foods high in magnesium such as whole grains, nuts, legumes, dark green leafy vegetables and shellfish do not form a large part of the basic diet. Common food sources such as fruits, vegetables, meat and fish only have moderate magnesium content. Dairy products are low in magnesium. In addition to this, there are other reasons for inadequate magnesium intake:In large areas in South Africa, magnesium levels in the soil and water are deficient, therefore plants frown in these soils are low in magnesium. Agricultural practices, such as artificial fertilization, deplete the soil of magnesium. Modern food technology, such as refining, processing and preparing foods, strips the food of most of its magnesium. Popular diets with large intake of fats and carbohydrates are lacking magnesium. These factors may predispose people to an inadequate intake of magnesium and therefore greater vulnerability to magnesium deficiency. Did you know? You would have to eat 3 cups of wild rice every day to obtain 300 mg of magnesium. What causes a magnesium deficiency? Smoking.Intense exercise. Prolonged stress depletes the body of magnesium stores.Excessive alcohol intake may also cause loss of magnesium because alcohol increases the secretion of urine by the kidneys. The reduced intake of magnesium through water and food.Dieting. Severe diarrhoea or laxative abuse reduces absorption. Certain disease, such as kidney problems.Certain medications. Magnesium levels in women can further be depleted by:Oral contraceptives. Lactation. Pregnancy. Pre-and post-menopause. Old age. If any of these factors apply to you, you could benefit from taking one to two Slow-Mag® caps capsules a day. How you can tell if you have a magnesium deficiency.
