ACC 200 belongs to the mucolytic group of medicines. This drug contains an active substance called acetylcysteine and it works by breaking disulfide bond between gel-forming mucins, therefore reducing mucus viscosity, and facilitating expectoration. ACC 200 is used to treat respiratory disorders accompanied by increased mucus production.Precautions
- It should be avoided in patients allergic to the active substance (acetylcysteine). If you are experiencing symptoms of an allergy, such as:
- itching of the skin,
- redness of the skin,
- swelling of the face,
- swelling of the tongue contact your doctor immediately.
- ACC tablets should be avoided in patients with liver or kidney disorders, because it can worsen symptoms in these patients.
- It may be used only with extra precautions in patients with stomach or duodenal ulcer.
- Also it can be used only with extra precautions in patients with asthma.
- Should be avoided in children under the age of 2.
- It may be used only with extra precautions in patients with diabetes.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
It may be used during pregnancy only if the benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the child. Consult your doctor about the benefits and risks of using this medication during pregnancy. There is no data whether ACC 200 passes into breast milk. Avoid breast-feeding while using this medicine.Use and Dose
ACC 200 effervescent tablets should be placed in a glass of water (150 ml) and allowed to be dissolved completely. This solution should be drunk immediately.Dosage

Patients above the age of 14 years | One ACC 200 effervescent tablet dissolved in a glass of water, 2-3 times a day (every 12 or 8 hours) |
Children aged 6-14 years | One effervescent tablet dissolved in a glass of water, 2 times a day (every 12 hours) |
Children aged 2-6 years | 1/2 (half) of ACC 200 effervescent tablet dissolved in a glass of water, 2 times daily (every 12 hours) |
Children under the age of 2 years | It is not recommended use this drug in children younger than 2 years of age |
Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose include:- nausea,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- abdominal pain.
Use with other medicines (Interactions)
It should be avoided in combination with the following medicines:- Antitussives (medicines used to suppress coughing) such as:
- morphine,
- codeine,
- hydrocodone,
- dextromethorphan,
- pholcodine,
- pentoxyverine,
- butamirate,
- pipazetate,
- benzonatate and others. These medicines suppress coughing and concomitant use of ACC 200 with these medicines may lead to mucus accumulation and cause side effects.
- Antibiotics such as:
- gentamicin,
- amikacin,
- streptomycin,
- cefuroxime,
- cefazolin,
- cephalexin,
- ceftazidime,
- penicillin,
- doxycycline (Dovicin) and others. ACC 200 could increase the effect of these medicines.

This drug could cause the following side effects:- nausea,
- vomiting,
- diarrhea,
- abdominal pain,
- ringing in ears,
- headache,
- heartburn,
- allergy and others.
